A Perfect Holiday Destination
As the rotating scenes from previous tours on the left illustrate, Savannah delights in making a big fuss over her guests. And her holiday dress is stunning: a chill in the air; the centuries-old main street awash with lights; stylish shops, award winning restaurants and historic squares preened and decorated for the season.
This is a time when southern hospitality is irrepressible and the gracious people of Savannah welcome visitors into their private residences for the annual Holiday Tour of Historic Homes.
This event has been described as "an intimate visit with residents of Savannah's Historic District." Because the tour is a project of the Downtown Neighborhood Association, the hosts are folks who live in the neighborhood, oftentimes the owners themselves, and they have unique stories to tell about the home's features and history.

This year we continue to offer two classic self-guided tours of historic Savannah homes in the afternoon and evening on Saturday, December 12th.

Guests will receive a complete Tour Program when
they pick up their tickets at Tour Headquarters. The
program
includes maps, directions, and descriptions of all the homes. On duty staff at Tour Headquarters will also be
available to assist our guests. The Afternoon Walking Tour of Homes
begins at 11 am this year and
includes six beautiful historic residences.
Seasonal decorations, reflecting the diversity of the home
owners' traditions, will be evident in many homes. During the two hour open time (3 to 5
pm) between the home tours on Saturday, the Downtown Garden
Club of Savannah will host an optional Victorian Tea in a
unique mansion not on either home tour. Stop by for Tea, sherry,
Victorian sandwiches and other treats, served by
club members in authentic Victorian dress.
Online tickets for the 3 to 4 pm time slot are sold out,
but tickets are still available for the 4 to 5 pm time. Docents will
be on hand to guide guests through the home. Full details on the Victorian Tea site:
VICTORIAN TEA Our Evening Tour of Homes begins at 5:00 pm,
as twilight descends and
Savannah's homes, shops and streets are softly lit.
Six homes, all different from those on the afternoon tour, will be
open for our guests to enjoy. All of the homes are
within walking distance, but trolley shuttle service between
stops near the main groups of homes is included in the evening tour
for those who prefer to ride. Through
the twilight you may also catch a glimpse of Savannah's elite mounted police.
The evening tour ends at 8:00 pm. We have selected a sample of six of the
most exciting and prestigious private inns in Savannah and
arranged for them to open their doors for you on Sunday
afternoon, after the Saturday Holiday Tour of Homes.
The Inns are all warm, welcoming, and decorated for the
holiday season.

the Victorian Tea on Saturday, and our new Holiday Tour of
Inns on Sunday! After viewing six distinctive homes on
the Saturday afternoon tour, you will enjoy a restful break

unique residence. Later, you
will appreciate how Savannah's beauty evolves
as night falls and tour six more homes -- thirteen different
ones in all including the Tea Venue. Then on Sunday
you will have an opportunity to visit six of Savannah's
most distinctive Inns -- welcoming you with refreshments and

Holiday Boutique Shopping Opportunity Our "Holiday Boutique" was a big hit last year, so we will do it again! Set up at our Bryson Hall Tour Headquarters, the boutique provides a unique opportunity to acquire Savannah style holiday decorations, often hand made by DNA Members and local artists. This year we are featuring ornaments, small wreaths, table top trees and other easy to carry items selected for their classic beauty and long lasting durability.
