ENJOY OUR
2012 HOLIDAY TOUR OF INNS!
Savannah's incomparable beauty and world-wide reputation as a leading
tourist destination make it the perfect environment for Innkeepers!
Private luxury inns of all types can be found here. Usually, the
only way to experience and compare these Inns is to book a few nights.
But no one can try them all! So the Holiday Tour of
Homes has created a special Sunday event for our guests -- the "Holiday Tour of
Inns."
We have selected six of the most
exciting and prestigious private inns in Savannah -- five which
are new to
our Inn Tour this year -- and arranged for them
to open their doors to our guests on Sunday afternoon, after the Saturday
Holiday Tour of Homes. As the photographs of these inns -- rotating on the left and individually below
with a brief narrative -- illustrate, these properties
are all different. But all share one key ingredient: An Innkeeper
with imagination, creativity, and total dedication to the comfort of
the guests!
You should consider staying in one of these Inns on
your 2012 holiday weekend visit to Savannah. A click on any of the
photographs below will take you to the Inn's website, where you can
learn all about the inn, take a virtual tour, and book a room.

ZEIGLER HOUSE INN
|
ZEIGLER HOUSE INN
Standing out on the otherwise quiet
avenue, our Savannah bed and breakfast offers good cheer, a
simply exquisite jubilee of casual fare and privileged
comforts. The most popular luxurious feature at Zeigler House
Inn is the extraordinary bed comforts. The greatest
conveniences are the location and in-room kitchens. The
Italianate home built in 1856 represents the Old South with all
its charming romantic splendor, chivalry, and gracious
hospitality. The stately house epitomizes what is fine and
beautiful in historic Savannah. There’s no need to be a
stranger here. The gentle leisure is not extravagant but
graceful for unceremonious, home-away-from-home comforts.
Our Savannah, Georgia bed and breakfast is located along
legendary Jones Street – the one that Southern Living describes
as the “most beautiful street in North America” – guests mellow
into the comforts of Savannah’s privileged gentlefolk. The Inn
is ideally located within a short walk of the major downtown
attractions including shops, restaurants, art galleries,
museums, Forsyth Park, City Market, and Savannah’s historic
River Street.

FORSYTH PARK INN |
FORSYTH PARK INN
We graciously invite you to visit the
historic and lovely Forsyth Park Inn during this year’s Holiday
Tour of Homes. We warmly welcome visitors with homemade sugared
Christmas cookies, fine holiday hot chocolate, and warm
seasonally spiced cider. With the sweet scents of peppermint
and pine throughout the inn and flickering fireplaces keeping
the guests warm, visitors will feel a true sense of southern
hospitality at its holiday best! The inn will be decorated in
creative and elegant fashion, and the adorned Christmas tree
always impresses.
Forsyth Park Inn is a circa 1893 Queen
Anne Victorian mansion that overlooks the breathtaking Forsyth
Park; truly an elegant mansion for the eyes to behold.
Originally, acquired by a celebrated sea captain from Nova
Scotia, Captain Aaron Flint Churchill, who became a prominent
Savannah citizen involved in both the cotton and steel
industry. Interiors showcase remarkable woodwork, 14-foot
ceilings, a grand staircase, and beautiful parquetry floors
throughout. The inn offers full gourmet breakfast each morning,
early evening hors d'oeuvres, and homemade sweets each night.
The innkeeper always strives to immerse guests into the
pampered lifestyle of the 19th century of Savannah. We look
forward to your holiday visit!

AZALEA INN AND GARDENS |
AZALEA INN AND GARDENS
Constructed in 1885, the Victorian inn was
home to the then prominent sea captain and member of the Cotton
Exchange, Walter Coney. Located on quiet brick side-walked East
Huntingdon Street, this stately residence was first established
as an inn in 1994 and boasted that a guest could “… eat
breakfast with Sherman, Lee and Juliette…” The dining room’s
murals (above the chair rail in the seven-sided dining room)
depict important events and people in Savannah’s history and
provide a lively topic of conversation around the breakfast
table.
Proving you can ‘travel well on little’ in
historic Savannah, or indulge to your heart’s content,
innkeepers Teresa and Micheal Jacobson spoil their guests in
this quiet oasis with casual dining recommendations, tips on
where to go to experience historic Savannah's unique
character, and nightly wine and hors d’oeuvres (except Sunday).
As a guest in their home you will enjoy 24-hour access to
signature snacks, fresh fruit, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and
cold beverages, and may stay as connected as you like with
complimentary wireless Internet. Right outside our door you can
enjoy a quick jog around the Forsyth Park, walk to many shops
and restaurants, and envelop yourself in Savannah’s history.

BALLASTONE INN
|
BALLASTONE INN
This picture-perfect Italianate mansion
(circa 1838) is on Oglethorpe Avenue near Bull Street.
The soft curve of the Ballastone Inn’s festively
decorated marble staircase fascinates year around.
Innkeeper Jennifer Salandi extends a unique invitation to step
inside Ballastone mansion, decked out in Christmas finery for
the 2012 Holiday Tour of Homes. Freshly baked Christmas
cookies, warm fireplaces, and the inn’s hostess -- dressed in
full period costume for the occasion -- will welcome tour
visitors to this "Grand Dame" of Savannah’s famous bed and
breakfast mansions. For last minute Christmas and Hanukah gifts
the inn’s newly published cookbook, "Simply Ballastone", is
available for purchase.
Showcasing beauty in architecture,
comforts, and social refinement, Ballastone continues to
benchmark the best of historic inn lodging in the American
South. See the intimate inn’s Savannah-themed, antique-rich
décor featured in the formal entry, visiting parlor, tearoom,
private bar, plus 16 sumptuous bedrooms on four floors. The
hidden courtyard garden, silver service, vintage gas
fireplaces, and elevator add to the inn’s list of surprising
details.

AMETHYST INN AT SARAH'S GARDEN
|
AMETHYST INN AT SARAH'S GARDEN
Inspired from the decorations of the
post-Civil War's New South and colorful Victorian architecture,
Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden offers a timeless, and yet
always new, family-friendly experience. Located "North of
Gaston” near Forsyth Park, this happily vibrant "Painted Lady"
Victorian Mansion (ca. 1888) sets the stage for a
character-rich Savannah experience -- a sense of homecoming for
many of our loyal guests who return again and again. Savor new
trends, new foods, and a family-welcome while you still enjoy
the certain history and culture that is embedded into the soul
of the Landmark Savannah Historic District.
Located where noble, historic streets
-- Habersham and Gaston -- meet in Savannah's Landmark
Historic District, the Inn reposes fittingly among Gaston
Street's stately mansions along the southern boundary of
colonial Savannah.
Amethyst Inn’s owners share their
family-friendly inn lifestyle with their guests. An
impromptu breakfast-time idea might roll into a
family-supper party invitation, or a blues and wine party
where Savannah's musicians bring more of the historic city's
unique spirit and fun into the mix.

PRESIDENTS QUARTERS INN |
PRESIDENT'S QUARTERS INN
Nestled in the heart of the downtown
historic district on Oglethorpe Square, this Savannah inn’s
exclusive location is only steps away from the many sights and
attractions that the "Hostess City" has to offer - City Market
and River Street, the theatre district, world class
restaurants, galleries and boutique shops, and the beautifully
landscaped parks and squares that make Savannah famous.
Originally constructed in 1855, these twin, Federal-style
mansions were extensively renovated in 2007. This elegant,
historic inn now features 16 overly spacious, richly appointed
suites with fireplaces and private balconies.
Each suite, named after United States Presidents who have visited
Savannah, is newly decorated with both antique and period
reproduction furnishings.
